Meet Spoon
Living with Spoon is like having a sweet little Grandma who has misplaced her dentures, puttering about your house. She is an impossibly cute, senior girl who came from an unfortunate hoarding situation of 47 cats in rural SK.
Spoon started her journey with Scat by getting spayed, and having ALL of her remaining (very rotten and painful) teeth removed. And somehow, it made her even cuter.
She has spent several months settling into house-cat life, learning that she quite enjoys pets and scritches, as long as it’s on *her* terms. She happily comes up on the bed and presents herself for pets, which she leans into enthusiastically, while purring loudly. She has also discovered that catching the human ‘indisposed’ is also a perfect time to ask for pets as she has a “captive” audience.
She is remarkably spunky and playful for one with zero teeth to defend herself with, often initiating a sparring match with her foster sibling, Spork. She is quite playful with toys, and will carry them around in her mouth, while trilling or meowing at the same time.
Spoon is still quite fearful of strangers, so we anticipate that she will not “show well” to prospective adopters, and will take a bit of time to adjust to a new home, and people. She is also skittish about loud noises or sudden movements, so we think she would do best in a home without children, or dogs. And while it would be awesome if an adopter wanted to keep Spoon & Spork together, it’s not an absolute deal-breaker as long as there are other friendly cats in the home, as Spoon derives confidence from watching, and interacting with other socialized cats.
Her only bad habit (so far) is counter-surfing, however she doesn’t try to steal your food, she more-so just seems curious to watch what you’re doing, and be where the other cats are.

Due to Spoon’s lack of teeth (and apparently her dentures too), she requires at least a partial diet of soft food, but she still likes having access to crunchies/kibble.
