Meet Jinx

Jinx is a hugely entertaining little stinker, complete with tortico personality and sass to match. She came to SCAT (with her presumed Mom, Juniper Berry) very timid and suspicious of people after living most of her young life outside, but now that she’s spent time getting comfortable with people and house-life, her sweet and sassy side is really starting to shine through.

She loves to play the, “you can’t touch me!” game, sitting juuuuust out of reach, but always near, and always watching foster Mom. You reach out to pet her, and she’ll scoot away, but returns immediately to tempt you some more. However, lately she’s started to come right up to foster mom and ask for pets! Purring, and displaying A+ “elevator butt” form. So it’s not that she doesn’t LIKE pets, it’s just that it has to be on *her* terms.

Thankfully to help with this, she is *highly* food-motivated (a trait common in many former street cats), and she can easily be coerced into affection with soft food, treats, or a meat tube. She loves her food so much that she does a “happy food prance” when she knows food is forthcoming (and it’s pretty darn cute!). Her litter box etiquette is perfect, and she rarely scratches things she isn’t supposed to. She IS a huge counter-surfer though, and people-food mooch (these instincts are what helped her survive, after all), so potential adopters will need to be aware of that.

Ideally, Jinx would be adopted along with her Mom, Juniper Berry (find her in the adults section, https://streetcat.ca/juniper), as they are built-in BFFs, and are constantly playing and roughhousing with each other. They can also frequently be found curled up together, grooming one another, cuddling, etc; but especially in new or “scary” situations where they clearly lean on each other for emotional support/safety. However, it’s possible Jinx could be adopted separately, but she will definitely need a playmate either way, as she has tons of energy to burn, and is likely to get into trouble without a buddy to distract her.
