Meet Alvina

Alvina is so so special! She has been living at her current foster home for two years now and over those two years she has grown and changed so much! When she first came into her foster home she hid in the bottom of an enclosed cat tree and hissed at everyone who walked by! But over the past few years she has gotten so much more comfortable with people and even sits on the couch while her foster parents study or watch TV! She is constantly changing and developing new behaviours! Just the other day she was caught laying in the middle of the floor with no hiding spot nearby! Something important to know about Alvina is that she had a total ear canal removal in November of 2022 which means she is completely deaf in her right ear. She has done incredibly well to overcome this challenge though and you can barely tell that she is hard of hearing. She can be quite bossy which is one of the very unique and special things about her! She has such a unique meow that might be called more of a scream and since she has become more comfortable with being around humans she has no hesitation to use it! She will tell you what she wants and she will scream until you give it to her! At her foster house, she has a heating pad that she uses in the winter and if it isn't turned on to the optimal setting she certainly will let you know! Alvina will tolerate pets if she is sitting in a spot she considers to be safe! She especially enjoys having her cheeks scratched! She is less sure about her back and sides but is learning to enjoy it more and more. She does a very cute thing when you are petting her cheeks she will get really excited and smash her face into any soft thing that is around her including legs, pillows, blankets etc... Alvina is a bit of an older kitty so she is not hyper and you will rarely see her get off her favourite nap spot unless it is time for food or to come lay in the warm sun that hits the back of the house in the afternoon! Alvina has always struggled with her weight, she is quite a chunky lady! She eats a special food for weight loss but it seems that she is just a chunky lady and she may always be that way! Overall Alvina is such a special kitty and has really earned a special spot in her foster home but it is time for her to find her forever family!
