STREET CAT RESCUE NEEDS YOU!
There are so many ways you can give of your time and talents
Here are just a few of the many ways you can help
To volunteer with Street Cat Rescue, please fill out the volunteer application form and email it to volunteer@streetcat.ca or fax it to (306) 955-1037.
Volunteer at the Petsmart Adoption Centre: Once a week or once a month, you pick the time and day that works best for you. Each shift does some minor cleaning, then lets the cats and kittens out to play. A perfect way to get a little cat cuddling time in while helping promote the cats to potential forever homes.
Volunteer at the Street Cat Rescue free-roaming shelter:
- Feed the cats – commit to feeding one day a week
- Assist with office work – everything from helping with occasional mail outs to being trained to do ongoing data entry
- Pet the cats – timid cats need quiet loving petting time, and our friendly cats need attention too!
Fundraising: Street Cat Rescue needs your help with a range of fundraising activities
- Help get items for silent auctions
- Organize a steak night
- Plan a new fundraiser
- Help with annual fundraisers (Men with Cats Calendar, In Good Taste, etc)
- Bake delicious goodies for our semi-annual bake sales
- Sell items at fundraising events like craft sales, bake sales, etc.
Photographers: High quality pictures go a long way towards helping our cats find forever homes. Take pictures of the cats and kittens at the Petsmart Adoption Centre, at our free-roaming shelter, in foster homes, or of the cats boarding at vet clinics. We also need great photographers for our annual Men with Cats calendar.
Social Media: Become part of our social media team creating content for Facebook and our web site. Whether it’s writing before / after stories, highlighting particular cats, advertising events, or sharing interesting links, keeping our content updated is crucial to spreading the word.
Educate: Spread the word about what we do by volunteering at events like the Pet Expo, Vet Tech conference, etc. Experienced representatives will always be there, so it’s a great way for newer people to hear lots about what we do and why. One of our volunteers runs a Reading to Rescues program with group of local school children. We’d love to have someone available to do classroom presentations!
Adoptathons: Fosters take their foster cats and kittens out to Adoptathon events at local stores and special events
Create: Join the Kitty Krafters 4 Street Cat Rescue, a group of dedicated volunteers who knit, crochet, sew and create items for sale at events – everything from table runners to catnip mice, mitts to cat blankets, with all proceeds going back to the cats!
Tranportation: We need people with vehicles who can transport cats to vet appointments, pick up donations of food or other items, move a cat shelter to a new location – join the transport team for the ultimate in flexible volunteering
