<image:title>Beans - Meet Beans (forever foster)</image:title>
<image:caption>Beans is a sweet boy with a very rare condition - his pituitary gland is under developed (congenital hypopituitarism), which means his body has a difficult time controlling and/or very low levels of key hormones like growth hormone and cortisol (steroids). He came to us severely emaciated and in shock as his teeny body can’t control his temperature and glucose levels on its own, which is extremely life threatening. He was approximately 1 year old and weighed only 1 kg! After 5 days of intensive care at a clinic and a complicated hospitalization at the WCVM small animal clinic, we are happy to report that Beans is not only doing well but he’s thriving! He takes steroids daily (which is critical to his survival) and is currently stable. He has been deemed unadoptable by a vet due to his very uncertain medical condition and poor long-term prognosis. Beans seems to be more like a puppy than a cat, he gets very excited to meet new people and wants all the attention. Playfighting and chasing toys are his favourite activities and meeting new foster kittens is quite exciting to him. Beans has 24 toes! Keep up with Beans and his friends on Instagram! If you would like to donate to his care please click here. *Beans is not available for adoption and will live out the rest of his life in his foster home under the care of SCAT.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mavoureen - Meet Mavoureen (forever foster)</image:title>
<image:caption>Mavoureen (Mavi) has been with SCAT since she was only a few weeks old! She had significant mobility issues and after investigation it was determined that she has a spinal deformity in her neck, a cerebellar herniation, and a syringomyelia. She was designated unfit for adoption as her long-term prognosis was unknown and she wasn’t expected to live long. Despite her poor chances, she has thrived in foster care and continues to defy expectations. Mavi loves to cuddle and loves snacks. When the weather is nice she loves to spend time outside in her catio. She is a great surrogate mom to the other foster kittens. She gets laser therapy and acupuncture once per month to keep her limber. Keep up to date with Mavi and her friends on Instagram! If you would like to donate to her care please click here. *Mavi is not available for adoption and will live out the rest of her life in her foster home under the care of SCAT.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lallybroch - Meet Lallybroch (forever foster)</image:title>
<image:caption>Lallybroch came into our care with her mother, sister and two brothers when the kittens were about 10 days old. Having been born in a Rubbermaid container in a shed, the family already had a rough start and Lallybroch was the runt. Now that is pretty typical of most of our intakes, but this girl was different. At her 3 week wellness check, it was noticed that she had a slight heart murmur, no big deal she'll grow out of it, right? At about 5 weeks, her foster mom noticed that she was lethargic and not being her normal playful self. As she was not yet eating solid food, she was significantly smaller than her siblings. So off to the vet, concerned but not too worried. After an exam, it was discovered that her little heart murmur wasn't so little but a grade 6/6 - the worst it could be. At barely 500g, she was just too small to do any diagnostics to confirm, but VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) or PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) was the suspect cause. In English: a heart defect that will significantly reduce her life. Lallybroch was now palliative until her good days are outnumbered by her bad. Her foster mom made the commitment to spoil this girl and make whatever time she has with Lally the best time possible! As an outgoing friendly kitten, it was easy to take her places: SCAT events, picnics, car rides, and even to work! This spoiled princess wanted for nothing, and got everything! Soon enough spring led to summer, summer to fall, and finally Lallybroch was big enough for cardiac testing. In September we got the confirmation of VSD, but we did get some good news. Although her heart sounds "awful", the cardiologist is optimistic that with medication to lower her blood pressure she can have a great life! How long that life is, that will be up to Lallybroch! Keep up to date with Lally and her friends on Instagram! If you would like to donate to her care please click here. *Lally is not available for adoption and will live out the rest of her life in her foster home under the care of SCAT.</image:caption>

<image:title>Xena - Meet Xena</image:title>
<image:caption>Xena The Warrior Princess She fought a gallant battle against the 2021 harsh Saskatchewan winter and unfortunately the casualties of war were her ear tips and part of her tail. She is an older gal but still has lots of playfulness in her. She especially loves balls that make noise and any toy on a string. Xena is a sweet girl and after a while she does quite well with other cats. In her foster home she tolerates the other female cat but snuggles and grooms with the male cat. She loves belly rubs and brushes and is quite talkative especially in the mornings. She has a really good appetite despite having lost quite a few teeth. Dental surgery has taken care of any concerns there. She has a heart murmur as well as liver disease with 2 growths on her liver. She takes three different types of meds and since April has been doing miraculously well! *Xena is not available for adoption and will live out the rest of her life in her foster home under the care of SCAT.</image:caption>

<image:title>Laoch - Meet Laoch</image:title>
<image:caption>This fierce momma cat protected her little family until we were able to bring them into our care. Even after she was safe and warm, that protection instinct never wavered. Although we will never know her story, we suspect that she had some time in a home as house noises have never bothered her. How she ended up on the mean streets of Saskatoon, we will never know. Now that her babies have all grown up, she gets to be the kitten she never had a chance to be! Laoch LOVES, LOVES to play!! She will spend hours chasing her favorite mouse, followed by down time looking out the window. Treats and catnip are her guilty pleasures! Laoch still doesn't trust 100%, but we are working on this and routine is helping to get there. She makes choices to be in rooms with us and no longer runs and hides when we walk into a room. We are not at the petting stage yet, but time and patience will help - starting to sneak touches in where we can. She isn't fearful of hands, just not trusting. This beautiful former momma needs a family that will give her the space she needs to get comfortable at the start and continue to work with her. Laoch may never be a lap kitty, but she may surprise you. Laoch has been introduced to other foster kittens and has done very well with them. She set and maintained her boundaries, but we have caught them snuggled up together (after a week). She has not met dogs, so that's still unknown. A family with older children with good cat manners would be best. She does provide warnings - growls, slinking away - before she swats with paws (mostly without claws, but sometimes they are out). The good outweighs the bad with this lovely momma!! Do you have the time and patience to give her a chance to truly shine? I know that she will be an awesome loving girl given the opportunity! *Laoch is working on her social skills. We hope to move her into the Adoptable category soon!</image:caption>

<image:title>Reginald - Meet Reginald</image:title>
<image:caption>Reginald is a funny, laid back, and chatty guy who would be a great addition to almost any household. He gets along great with the cat and dog in his foster home and would probably do better with an all-adult home or with older kids since he can get a little intense when he plays. Reginald would love to tell you all about his day when you get home, give you all the deets on the neighbourhood goings-on, provide input on what the plans for the weekend should be - anything really, he just loves to chat! He also loves to play with the feather wand and will tell you (in no uncertain terms) when he thinks it’s play time! Even though Reginald loves to talk, he is very quiet at night and is used to sleeping in his own room. Special needs: Reginald is blind in one eye due to retinal detachment, but he hasn’t gotten the memo yet so he acts like any other cat, running, jumping and playing like normal. That eye does not bother him at all, it is just non-functional. He is also being treated for glaucoma in his other eye but he has no problems taking his eye drops like a champ! The drops keep his eye pressure normal so he is able to see clearly and continue life as a normal kitty. His opthamologist recommends a quick eye pressure check once every three months at a regular vet clinic just to monitor his eye and make sure that everything stays stable. He has responded to his meds extremely well so his vet team is very hopeful that he will continue to thrive.</image:caption>

<image:title>Rafaella - Meet Rafaella (forever foster)</image:title>
<image:caption>From Rafaella’s foster mom: Rafaella, called Ella or Ellabella by her foster mom, is such an unusual little thing. She came to from a hoarder’s situation. She was emaciated, just a skeleton, scared of everything and everyone, it took weeks/months for her to even leave the room she was in. Ella eventually came around, snuggling and purring (she has an amazing purr). Ella gradually put on weight and looks like a totally different cat from when she first came to SCAT. Her appetite is very good now, unfortunately her previous eating habits/diet has left or contributed to an incredibly sensitive stomach and she throws up regularly. She is on special food but nothing has really changed or helped. She is, however, in good spirits and maintains a good weight. She also had a terrible time with her teeth and has only 3 left, she manages to eat though. She has had several teeth extraction operations. Ella has had many health issues as mentioned above. She’s been through so much, and upheaval is not good for her. She likes things to stay the same and she’s happy and playful. Her foster family love her so much and are happy for her to see out her days with them. *Rafaella is not available for adoption and will live out the rest of her life in her foster home under the care of SCAT.</image:caption>

<image:title>Udo - Meet Udo</image:title>
<image:caption>It's Udo's world and we're all just living in it. Udo is a very independent, content, sleepy boy! If he's not napping on the couch, or on his perch, he's likely just found a sunny spot and is napping there! From time to time he will look for a cuddle or scratch, or nap beside you for a little affection, but truly is perfectly content in his own world. He may also be known as the slowest escape artist in the world - when the doors open he waddles his way over to see if he can sneak through and head straight for the grass to munch on, but usually finds himself unsuccessful. He is a creature of habitat, and would much rather hang out at home than go on any adventures. A great companion for a couch potato. This old buy (approximately 12? 13? 14?) has daily & nightly medications that keep him the best version of himself. Due to thecomplexity of his medical conditions, he will remain with his experienced foster for the rest of his life.</image:caption>

<image:title>TikTok - Meet TikTok</image:title>
<image:caption>TikTok is a sassy little feline who is always in the middle of all the action. She has been in SCAT's care since August 2024. She came off the streets with a significant eye injury that took time to heal. This stunning black beauty is full of personality, energy, and charm. She has come a long way in foster care and continues to make progress every day! TikTok is playful, curious, and hilariously entertaining. Whether she is stealing dryer balls from the dryer, bird-watching from the window, or “helping” with chores, she brings joy (and a little chaos) to every corner of the house. She’s super smart and loves being around people—but only on her terms. TikTok enjoys closeness, but not cuddles unless she initiates. She currently does not like to be picked up or held, so she needs a family that respects her boundaries. While she has a sweet side (yes, she’ll sometimes become a lap cat!), TikTok is still working on some behavioural quirks like play-biting and foot attacks—usually when she feels ignored or overstimulated. She would thrive in a quiet but busy home with no other cats and no small dogs. Larger dogs could be okay if they’re very patient and gentle and will accept her as their new boss! TikTok is best suited for an experienced cat household or a family who will give her the space, structure, and love she needs to fully embrace the luxury of being an indoor cat. With a little patience and a lot of playtime, TikTok will reward you with her quirky love and nonstop entertainment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Midnight - Meet Midnight</image:title>
<image:caption>Midnight is in search of a home that will be the purrfect fit for her. She is looking for a quiet home with cat-savvy, patient people who will work to gain her trust and expand her comfort zone. It may take her weeks or even months to bond with a new person, and she may not accept petting during that time. Once she has bonded, she enjoys spending time around her people. She will be happy to nap next to you while you watch TV, or she may play nearby (but not underfoot) while you exercise. She would enjoy a home with another friendly cat or two, but she would do best in a home with no children or with older children who will respect her boundaries. Midnight is a huge proponent of consent-based petting, and she has strict rules about when she will allow petting. She has learned the word “pets”: if you offer your hand and ask her for pets, she will tell you “yes pets” or “no pets” by whether she moves toward your hand or not. Respecting her boundaries has been important for letting her learn that she can simply move away if she does not want to be touched so she does not need to drag out her Slappin’ Paw to enforce her wishes. She is somewhat reactive to touch – she is not at a point in her life where she will accept a random pat as a person is just passing through the room – and she is terrified of strangers. A beautiful black smoke cat, Midnight came into SCAT’s care as a pregnant stray, and she birthed and raised five healthy kittens. Now she is retired and living a life of leisure. • Energy: She is the perfect balance of playful and mature: she has never destroyed anything other than a cat toy and almost never plays with things that are not cat toys, although she may have a go at your plants. She enjoys playing independently – she is currently afraid of wand toys – and also appreciates it if her humans will throw the ball a few times for her. She is very entertaining to watch! However, she also sleeps through the night and does not wake people up in the morning. • Food: Midnight loves her food. She does need to have her food portioned out, since she has a tendency to overeat, but she is not fussy about the type of food, and she prefers her own food to most human foods. She has never eaten anything she wasn’t offered first, and she does not counter-surf (although she does get up on the counter from time to time). • Social needs: Midnight enjoys being around people she trusts, and she likes a few petting sessions each day from those people. She does not mind being brushed as long as it is part of the petting. She also prefers to snuggle with someone in a bed at night, but snuggling and petting are mutually exclusive activities. She has a history of getting along with other cats and would likely enjoy another friendly cat or two to play and snuggle with. Cats that are particularly assertive may not be a good match for her, since Midnight finds this stressful and has shown a tendency to run and hide from such cats, but she would do well with other non-assertive cats, and she definitely learns from bolder cats who are friendly with people. • Other Details: Midnight is a very neat and clean cat with a clean bill of health. She will use any type of litter, she is very good about using her scratchers (both carpet and sisal rope), and she waits politely until people get up in the morning before she gets up to request food and pets. She is an appropriately chatty girl, saving most of her meows and trills for conversing with her people.</image:caption>

<image:title>Joyful - hospice - Meet Joyful</image:title>
<image:caption>For the first years of my life, I lived in a colony of felines in rural Saskatchewan. We were lucky to have caring folks who made sure we had food and water. But, it was decided in 2023, that I should come into the Street Cat Rescue program along with a friend. I was then given the name Joyful. I was shy at first and the new caring folks realized that it would take me some time to warm up and accept that this new life would be good for me and I wouldn’t have to worry any more about my future. Unfortunately, nature did play a trick on me, and when I was at the doctors, they diagnosed me with stage 2 mammary cancer. The SCAT folks found a wonderful foster mom for me where I could live out my days in pampered luxury with all the food and toys I could ever want. My new mom says I live up to my name as she says I have brought much joy to her life. She pampers me, as I deserve, and we are great companions…whether lounging on the couch and watching TV or snoozing away in bed together. I have a big balcony where I can relax in the sunshine listening to the birds in the trees, watching the ducks swim on the pond or see the bunnies in the grass below. This is now my furever home as a hospice kitty…and I think I am one lucky girl.</image:caption>

<image:title>Egyptian Rose Onion - Meet Egyptian Rose Onion</image:title>
<image:caption>Egyptian Rose Onion (Onion) for short has shown so much growth during her time with her fosters, they are so proud of her! She has turned from a spicy, scared Onion to a sweet, cuddly Onion. When her fosters first got her, Onion was fairly nervous around people, and spent a lot of time hiding and swatting at any strange hands coming her way. After all, she was a single mom who lived on the streets! However, as time has gone on, she has gained massive confidence, and loves cuddles with her fosters, playing, and hanging out with her cat foster siblings. Onion is a very laid back girl. She spends most of her time snuggling and snoozing, with the exception of mealtimes (her FAVOURITE TIME) and the occasional playtime with her foster parents & siblings. She does not need much space - her favorite place is the bed. She can spend hours in bed with with her fosters, and loves to get all the scratches and snuggles. She makes a great pillow! Onion would be great either as a solo cat or with some cat friends. It took a bit of time for Onion to acclimate to her cat foster siblings, but now they get along great and spend all day snoozing. Onion has 3 boundaries: No touching her paws, no picking her up, and no touching her belly (as fluffy and tempting as it is!) Her fosters have tried to work with her on these, but she simply does not like nor tolerates these types of interactions. If you are looking to welcome a low key, lovely, special girl in your life, apply to meet Onion today!</image:caption>

However he has been with his foster family for several years and has adjusted well to life with two permanent resident cats. He is now a geriatric 14 year old, he is bony and has random spells of loud hollering. While I can be a little sassy with humans, I absolutely love other friendly cats—they make me feel safe and confident. I’ll run and play as long as the human stays in one spot. My foster mom has been so patient with me. She understands that I need quiet spaces and cozy hiding spots. She always tells me how beautiful I am and how much she’d love to cuddle me—but I’m still learning to trust, so I politely (and dramatically) decline. This summer, I had to visit that scary place they call “the vet.” The doctor checked my teeth, my ears, my shiny fur coat, and listened to my heart. That’s when my foster mom’s smile faded—the doctor heard a heart murmur. More tests revealed I have a rare congenital condition called Cor Triatriatum Sinister. I don’t understand what that means, but I could tell it was serious from my foster mom’s face. Now I take daily medications and need to live a low-stress lifestyle to keep my special heart happy. I feel fine and have no idea anything is wrong—but my doctors say I’ll need lifelong care. That means I get to stay with my amazing foster mom forever, where I’m safe, loved, and spoiled (as I deserve). Even though I’m not looking for a new home, the kind humans who help pay for my care still need help with my medications and yummy food (that’s where my pills are hidden!). Could you spare a few dollars to help cover my grocery bill? Your support helps special cats like me live out our lives in comfort—with soft beds, full tummies, and plenty of toys to bat around. Thank you for helping me and my friends have the safe, happy retirement we deserve. Yara is going to remain in foster care with SCAT as a hospice cat due to her severe heart condition.</image:caption>

<image:title>Yuki Kattori - Meet Yuki Kattori</image:title>
<image:caption>Yuki Kattori is a recovering street cat who was living outside likely for a long time and was watched over by a couple of neighbourhood families. He is a mixture of constantly scared and vigilant on the one hand, and determined to seek adventure and whatever, on the other hand. He likes pets but has to be gently pursued and waylaid to begin enjoying them. Currently, he is attempting to integrate himself into the full shared spaces of his foster home. The resident cats are old and difficult and Yuki has to learn to respect their (totally rigid) boundaries, though he would really like to play. In short, he risks getting creamed otherwise. He has been a litterbox champ since day one though he may never have seen a litter box before. He likes Whiskas and Proplan kibble, loves treats but not wet food of any sort we have found. This last trait made him difficult to trap, as we usually rely on such delicacies as sardines. He seems to be magnificently healthy. At present, Yuki is suitable for homes with plenty of patience or with knowledge of feral cat quirks. He darts about like a madman if you so much as look at him, but if you approach with stealth and perform massage, a purr may be forthcoming, and a lot of writhing around. Yuki suggests you take a look at his book, called What Cats Want by Dr. Yuki Hattori.</image:caption>

<image:title>Prickly Pear - Meet Prickly Pear</image:title>
<image:caption>You may remember sweet little Peyote from last fall, well this is his momma! Prickly Pear came in at the same time, but was so shutdown and terrified that posting her just wasn't appropriate. Well how things have changed since October and now it's time to start searching for her forever family! Although she is still shy and reserved, each day is bringing surprises! Miss Pear now actively seeks pets from me, even before breakfast is served!! The resident cats do make her nervous, but then wouldn't you get uncomfortable when someone stares at you until you finish eating??? I know that she would enjoy a friend or two, but it will take time for her to adjust to any home setting. Patience is going to be the way to this girl's heart, could that be you? Miss Pear is nervous of men, but each day gets better. Trust is hard for this one, how we wish we could know her full story. Miss Pear is really so sweet and just needs the right family to find her. Time will be needed for her to become comfortable, and a quiet home would probably be the ideal place. If you've read this far, maybe this sweet girl is the one for you???</image:caption>

Living with diabetes, Tomothy takes it all in stride—his condition is well-managed with a once-daily medication, allowing him to enjoy life with vigor and grace. A true gourmand at heart, he is profoundly food motivated (and we mean it!), often using his considerable charm (and a strategic meow or two) to persuade humans into offering treats or second breakfasts. He will also actively participate in every movement you make in hopes of there being food involved. Known for his expressive eyes and regal demeanor, Valiant Tomothy is equal parts medical marvel and culinary connoisseur, proving every day that living with a chronic condition doesn't mean compromising on joy—or snacks.</image:caption>

<image:title>Amelia - Meet Amelia</image:title>
<image:caption>Amelia is a beautiful flamepoint kitten with the bluest eyes. She is a little bit timid, but she is an energetic and playful kitten. She can be a bit skittish as hands approach her, but once you have your hand on her, she very much enjoys pets and will purr loudly. Once she's comfortable with you, hold out a couple of fingers and she will approach for pets. At this point, she is uncomfortable with being picked up and held. Amelia will require a bit of patience as she is still a bit timid and skittish. After a stay at PetSmart, she warmed up to her new fosters quickly and eagerly seeks out attention and pets. Don't expect to pick her up and cuddle her as she is very unsure about that for now.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nellie - Meet Nellie</image:title>
<image:caption>Nervous Nellie has been with SCAT since April 2025. It has taken her quite some time to learn that people can be trusted. She spent her first several months in care hidden away. Nellie has had several foster roommates who have helped to bring her out of her shell. She has gradually become more comfortable and confident with her fosters. She loves to be around other cats but can play a bit rough at times. Nellie enjoys playing interactively with a wand toy or on her own with other toys. She is an enthusiastic biscuit-maker but don't let her knead on you as her claws are sharp! Nellie has learned to love pets and she now frequently seeks them out. It is important to pay attention while interacting with her though as she still occasionally gets nervous and will reach out with a swat if she feels uncomfortable. Pets are more successful if you let her come to your hand rather than reaching out for her.</image:caption>

<image:title>Solar Flare - Meet Solar Flare</image:title>
<image:caption>Hello, I’m Solar Flare. I was only eight months old when I was found in a trailer park colony in Prince Albert, trying my best to raise seven tiny newborns. Life started out loud, cold, and overwhelming, and I learned early how to be brave and tough. While staying with my foster mom, everything was new: indoor life, humans, and on top of that, a pesky respiratory infection that made me feel pretty crummy. I hid. I hissed but never swatted because that’s extremely rude. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about this whole “people” thing and am still not 100% set on them. Time passed, and while only four of my babies survived, they were adopted out in pairs allowing my job as a mom to be complete. Suddenly, I had space to figure out who I was. That’s when my foster mom learned something very important about me: other cats are wonderful and I adore them. With confident feline friends around, I discovered that humans might not actually be so scary.. Well, mainly female friends, male humans are significantly more scary which I’m trying to adapt too. If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m very much a cat’s cat, and I adjust best when I have a buddy to follow. If my resident friend gets spooked, though, I’ll take off and hide too, however, just for a bit as I’m curious about what’s going on around me. These days, I’m quite confident with my foster mom. I still have moments where I need to retreat and observe from a safe place, but once I trust you, I really trust you. Ear scratches are possibly the greatest invention of all time, closely followed by fish-flavored wet food. I may act tough at first, but offer me your hand to smell, and I’ll lower my head for gentle head rubs and I’ll melt… and yes, I secretly love belly rubs too. I’ll even purr about it. I take my time adjusting to new surroundings, but I’m very submissive with other cats, which makes fitting into a multi-cat home much easier for everyone. Playtime is absolutely amazing, if it’s something I can chase while you don’t move, I’m in. I especially adore string toys, all those months outside made me an excellent hunter. Now, about my quirks. Cardboard? Incredible. A+ entertainment. I’ll scratch it, bite it, drag it around like a trophy. Blinds are also fascinating, mainly because they have strings. I’m still learning to enjoy being picked up, but if you wrap me in a cozy blanket, I’m perfectly content and quite proud of myself. Though sometimes I will try to hide my head inside the blankets. I also love talking to my feline buddies, I am not very loud and it almost sounds squeaky at times which brings my foster mom a lot of joy. As I mentioned before, I have a preference for female human friends, when I lived outside a nice lady would feed me my favourite fish-wet food. I do have a chronic upper respiratory infection, which means I have sneezing fits sometimes. It typically sounds worse than it is and it happens when I run around to much. On the bright side, it’s not contagious and doesn’t slow me down. In fact, I feel my best after hanging out in a steamy bathroom while you shower for 15-20 minutes. Very spa-cat of me, even when I let out my squeaky meows to let you know the showers loud. I may be a little cautious, a little fiery, and a little weird, but if you give me patience, a feline friend, and some ear scratches, I’ll shine just like my name.</image:caption>

<image:title>Squirrel - Meet Squirel</image:title>
<image:caption>Squirel (aka Squirt) is a fearless, outgoing girl who has immediately settled in to her fosters home. If she wants attention she will make herself known by flopping on her back at your feet. She plays on her own terms; her favourites include springs, tunnels, and fleece strings. Squirrel's little legs are too small to climb by herself, but she likes to be helped up to the window perch or the top of the cat tree to sunbath and watch the world go by. For such a little girl she has a big voice and likes to tell you about her day (even if you've been with her the whole time). Squirel would do well with other cats if they are okay being bossed around by someone half their size. She doesn't discriminate between her people; whoever is willing to give her attention at the time is her favourite at the time. She is extremely food-motivated so winning her over is as simple as giving her a treat. During downtime Squirel enjoys being close to you, receiving the occasional pet (she is sooooo soft!), but not usually on your lap.</image:caption>

<image:title>Elektra - Meet Elektra</image:title>
<image:caption>Elektra came to SCAT in October 2025 with her two clever kittens (Einstein and Edison). After her babies moved on to their forever homes, she put all her energy into learning how to be a housecat. Elektra was initially very shy and scared but after closely observing her foster human’s behavior for several weeks, she correctly concluded that her current circumstances are pretty good. As of December, Elektra's personality is shining bright! She likes the opportunity to make informed decisions, but once this girl is in, she is ALL in. She doesn't just tolerate pets, she leans in with her whole body, closes her eyes, and makes happy little grunting sounds. She crunches kibble with glee and will do almost anything for a Churu treat. She is an expert at puzzle feeders, gallops around like a lunatic after her favourite toys, and naps hard in her cozy bed to recharge. She's not a lap cat yet, but we think she might want to be. Honestly though, the way she sidles up right next to her person with slow blinks, purrs and constant biscuits couldn't be any sweeter. If you are looking for a fun sidekick to light up your life, Elektra could be your girl. She is young and playful but is past the crazy kitten stage. She is developing an adorable repertoire of creaky chirps and squeaky meows, but is not loud or needy. She has also reacted well to the resident cats, even though they aren't yet her biggest fan. Elektra is still suspicious of strangers and will need time, space and patience to help her adjust to her forever home. She is, however, absolutely worth the effort. Under her skeptical exterior, she is a funny, enthusiastic, and affectionate little character who sparks so much joy and is ready to take on the world with her human (or humans) by her side.</image:caption>

<image:title>Moonlight - Meet Moonlight</image:title>
<image:caption>Moonlight, formerly of Rosthern, is looking for his forever cuddle buddy. This handsome gentleman is an adventure waiting to happen, and loves to play. He does have an independent streak that means he isn't always on your lap, but he will always be in the room making sure you aren't preparing his supper. At night he will dutifully hold your blankets down, and will occasionally make sure any dust bunnies, random pieces of fluff on the floor or toys know they can't move under his watchful paws. He does still have a bit of street in him, and he will ask for his portion of anything tasty that you are eating. He will gobble down the meals and maybe eat the other animals food too. Currently he lives with one bigger dog, with no issues.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Maple Bacon is an easy going and affectionate cat who loves laying on the couch. And after a good evening of the couch, she loves to curl up on the bed for the night too. She has been very friendly with every person she has met so far, and was not even bothered by the dogs at the vet clinic. She is very gentle with people, respectful of the furniture, and doesn't make a mess of her food either. Maple Bacon is currently receiving medicine for a bad case of ear mites that she arrived with. Her ear canals are fairly swollen, so this medicine might continue for a while (follow up vet appointment Dec 11th will tell us more). Maple Bacon is a larger girl at 16 lbs. This is a bit of a mystery, as she does not over eat and doesn't seem to be motivated by treats.</image:caption>

<image:title>Velvet Underground - Meet Velvet Underground</image:title>
<image:caption>From the streets of Rosthern to living it up in the city, indoors with all the toys, snacks and love. I was a spicy boy when I first came to SCAT. I’ve calmed down a lot and I welcome affection and cuddles with boundaries. I’ve had a few obstacles to overcome but I’m recovering well and ready to find my forever family! I am super playful and love wand toys- Once I get them in my teeth I try and run away with them! I love when my foster plays with me throwing balls - and I can entertain myself for hours with my roller ball toy! I like to greet my foster with a hug, head butt and a scarf like cuddle. I’m just figuring out this Christmas thing- don’t eat the tree- ornaments are for looking not touching, so many rules! My nickname is Underpants!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Quack is a loving little girl. She’s a bit of a loud mouth if she isn’t doing/getting exactly what she wants. She loves a bed with lots of blankets for her to lay on. She’s not the biggest fan of being held but loves pets when she’s comfortable. Quack would love a feline friend to keep her busy and snuggle up with. Her perfect home would be one with patient people who would spoil her like the princess she is. She is currently in a foster home with her two brothers Quicksand and Quantum Leap who are also available for adoption.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hortencia - Meet Hortencia</image:title>
<image:caption>Hortencia is a wonderful balance of spicy and sweet, good with a bit of naughty. This beautiful girl started off fiery with hissing and swats, but now is a 'just a baby' enjoying belly rubs and snuggles in bed. Other than being constantly in your presence, her other favourite thing to do is watch the birds. Foster house has an invisible bird feeder attached to a window that keeps her occupied for hours! Hortencia enjoys catnip toys and running up and down the hallway for her bedtime and post-breakfast zoomies. She loves to play chase and has been respectful of the foster house resident cat, backing off when the resident kitty signals she has had enough. Hortencia will do best in a home that could give her space and patience as her spicy side likely comes from a bit of fear. A quieter household, maybe with another cat (she hasn't met dogs yet), would be her ideal forever home. One where she could have her own small space to start in (bedroom, rarely used bathroom, etc.) and gradually be given access to the house once she feels safe. She is a big fan of meat tubes, so this could be the way to her heart.</image:caption>

<image:title>Barbie - Meet Barbie</image:title>
<image:caption>Barbie (known as Honey in her foster home) is a very special cat, in fact, she is more like a dog full of attitude! It is Barbie’s way, or the highway! She is playful, silly, but definitely very particular about what and who she likes. For instance, it takes a little while for Honey to understand you and you to understand her, but once you do and you see her intelligent and assertive personality - you understand why she is so special! When Honey is on a mission, she must achieve it. Normally the mission is food. Barbie tries to eat anything and everything - from churru, to Greek yogurt, to plants to water left in a the remnants on dirty dishes in the sink. And she comes up with some very unique ways to achieve this goal! When she wants to play, she will let you know by following you around, gently swatting at your feet or even waking you up from a nap. Barbie is most active and playful in the night time. While Barbie is fun and goofy, she also is particular in certain ways which you must respect or she will get nippy. For instance, if you pet her against the direction of her coat she will try to nip your fingers, or if you enter her space when she is surprised she will go after your toes! That said, Barbie’s personality makes her such a fun cat - again, more like a dog! She even waits for you at the door when you get home and greets you by rubbing up against you until she has got her dose of affection! Barbie is a beautiful silly cat who would do best in a quieter home that also can give her attention when she needs it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pagoda - Meet Pagoda</image:title>
<image:caption>Pagoda (AKA Pog) is a tiny kitty with a big, silly personality. She came from a tough situation in Wynyard where she was one of 47 cats from an emergency rescue. Pog came into care with some health issues and had to have a couple of eye surgeries. She is all healed up now, as can be seen from her gorgeous blue eyes! Although she is still nervous around loud noises and sudden movements, she is gaining more confidence every day. Pog is extremely curious and runs a tight inspection protocol with any and everything in your possession. Or, she might just be checking to see if you have any treats as she is very food motivated! She likes to be around people and will continuously circle her foster mom when she wants food or attention. Pog is starting to learn that pets are nice, especially chin and cheek scritches! She quickly asserted her nightly sleeping spot on the feet of her foster parents. She seems very interested in befriending the resident kitties in her foster home, but they unfortunately do not feel the same way about her. Pog has developed quite the playful side and loves to hunt and collect toys, stuffies, and hair scrunchies. While she enjoys playing with her foster friend Panache, she can also often be found on her own running around chasing toys and practicing her parkour techniques. Pagoda has had 10 teeth extracted due to dental disease.</image:caption>

<image:title>Panache - Meet Panache</image:title>
<image:caption>Panache is as majestic as she looks. She likes to keep up her aloof disposition - that is, until she decides it is time for food or pets! Pan has recently started vocalizing her demands with the sweetest trills and meows. Pan came from a tough situation in Wynyard where she was one of 47 cats from an emergency rescue. She is still nervous around people and loud noises, but has been consistently gaining confidence. While she does still sometimes flinch when being reached for, she does love a good firm pet on her backend and head/cheek scritches. If you do a good enough job of petting her, she will reward you with some purrs and a show of her tummy (but not to pet - yet). Even when she is not in the mood to be pet or has reached her limit, she is incredibly polite and will simply and softly step on your hand to let you know. Pan’s playful side is starting to show more and more. She loves a good wand toy session and chasing after her foster friend Pagoda. Panache has had 19 teeth extracted due to dental disease (still able to eat hard food).</image:caption>

<image:caption>StJohn (pronounced the old way of Sinjin) is a sweet boy who loves treats and playing with wand toys, but he is also happy to play by himself. He will happily tell you all about his day and sometimes sounds like he's asking important questions. He enjoys cuddling, especially up near your face. He is very chatty and would be an easy introduction to new cats - he is very easy going and doesn’t bug others if they are uninterested.</image:caption>

<image:title>Somerset - Meet Somerset</image:title>
<image:caption>Somerset is just over a year old and as gentle as they come. He’s on the shy side and takes his time getting comfortable in new spaces, preferring to observe quietly from a safe distance at first. New situations and new people can feel a little overwhelming for him, but with patience and kindness, he slowly begins to settle in. Once trust is earned, his soft and loving nature shines through. He’s tender, calm, and quietly affectionate in his own way. Never demanding, just grateful for gentle company and a peaceful environment. He has a soothing presence and seems happiest when things are predictable and calm. This lovely boy would thrive in a quiet home with someone who understands that the best relationships take time. A patient adopter who values slow mornings, soft voices, and small moments of connection will be rewarded with a deeply sweet and loyal companion. He's happy with other cats, even ones with main character energy and is willing to let them take the lead.</image:caption>

<image:title>Forklift Certified - Meet Forklift Certified</image:title>
<image:caption>Forklift Certified was found on the warehouse floor, but now he’s ready to clock into a permanent position as your cuddly companion. After hitching a surprise ride on a freight delivery bound for Saskatoon (origin: who-knows-where Saskatchewan), he faced a harrowing first day navigating pallets and loading docks. He arrived on the job with some unfortunate injuries, including frostbitten ears, a broken tooth, and a wound on his tail requiring partial amputation. Thankfully, his WCB claim was approved and Forklift Certified has since completed repairs and is cleared for indoor-only duty. About two years old, Forklift Certified is energetic, curious, and perhaps overqualified as a lap cat. A true micro-manager, he likes to shadow you throughout the day, making sure everything is running smoothly. He’s also not afraid to provide regular verbal feedback to keep operations on track. And while he isn’t especially interested in heights, he is an excellent jumper when the situation calls for it. Highly food-motivated from long days on the job, he is polite and shows no aggression around meals. He does have a quirky way of eating though, insisting on scooping his dry food out of his dish and eating it one kibble at a time off of the floor. But don’t worry, he always cleans up after himself by eating every last piece! Forklift Certified is looking for a home willing to respect his union rules: treats every shift, mandatory naps, and some trust-building time before trimming his nails. At this time, his foster family believes he would do best as your one-and-only coworker, preferring a single-cat household, though it is possible that he would warm up to a feline friend in the future. So, what do you say? Ready to make space for the safest heavy machinery your lap will ever host? Meet Forklift Certified today!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Gene Parmesan is an excellent cat who wants nothing more than attention and affection from humans. Always wanting to be part of the action, when nothing is keeping his interest he will make his own fun with playtime. No dangling string or lace is safe from his playful pounce. Despite his painful start of severe ear infections that left him deaf, Gene is a total lapcat. He is easy-going and so far seems to be doing fine with the resident cats in his foster home. Gene is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection but we hope he is ready for adoption very soon.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This little guy is one of the of the 45 rescued from the Wynyard intake. He is a little timid, and enjoys a quiet relaxed environment, however he will come from anywhere when he knows you have his Churu or wet food. He won’t quite seek out pets yet, but he is open to being pet when you sit with him, he is also learning he really enjoys chin scratches. He does love to play with toys, if you get him going with the wand toy, he’ll show his killer moves. He also enjoys lounging on the top of his cat tree, or in his tent.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Leonard Nimoy is a quiet little snuggle-bug who is quite happy in a supporting role to his more outgoing brothers. Don't be fooled though, when the spotlight is on him, he never fails to deliver a powerful performance. This breakout character will charm his way into your heart in no time. While he tends to prefer dispassionate decisions based on logic, he would be happy to make an exception if your decision to adopt him is based in human emotion.</image:caption>

<image:title>Patience - Meet Patience</image:title>
<image:caption>Patience is an extremely sweet, petite little cat that wants nothing more than to be loved, and have a feline friend to spend time with. She is very interested in the kitty in her foster home but unfortunately he's a senior kitty that's set in his ways and just does not feel the same way. She came from a difficult situation in Wynyard where she was one of forty seven cats that were rescued from a condemned house. She started off very timid, but her confidence has come a long way, and she's discovered that she really likes gentle pets and short cuddle sessions once you've gained her trust. She also absolutely loves to play with wand toys, and will get zoomies like nobody's business, running up and down the hallway at full speed. She is a sweet, goofy girl with the softest fur and most beautiful emerald eyes and would make a perfect companion for a quieter household that can give her the time she needs to feel safe and confident in her new surroundings. Patience is also very food motivated, loves being around people and will vocalize and let you know when she's feeling lonely. When she's happy she gives the cutest little chirps and trills though.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domino - Meet Domino</image:title>
<image:caption>This sweet boy has spent the last little while in a busy household, and is now relaxing with his new foster. He’s a pretty independent guy, but likes to check in every so often for some scratches and pets. He loves giving hugs and resting his chin on your shoulder - this will get him non-stop purring! Otherwise, he can be found napping pretty much anywhere, but probably in the same room as his people. His favourite toys are anything that he can hunt (feather wands, fabric mice), or anything with catnip - or just straight catnip. Domino has not lived with other cats or dogs, but he has lived with young children in his previous home. He would likely do best in a home that is quiet-medium activity, with time to give him the balance of space and love he’s looking for - and he’s more than worth it!</image:caption>

<image:title>Xceptional Little Norm - Meet Xceptional Little Norm</image:title>
<image:caption>Little Norm is the perfect cat for a quiet household who would welcome a small, slightly mysterious, retired tomcat who needs a little extra TLC. He has been with SCAT for several months, since walking into a trap at one of the several family feed spots in his neighbourhood. And after a couple of years fending quietly for himself. Norm accepted his change in lifestyle with equanimity and has been gradually more comfortable with pets and cuddles. We are currently working on regular “pick-ups” and “put downs”. He may be puzzled by this procedure but does not let it faze him. He favours firm cheek rubs and food. He plays with things dangled before him. He calls to the other cats in the house from behind his lattice door. Unfortunately, because they are jerks he has to remain in his room. We think he would enjoy the companionship of other, non-jerk, cats. We have yet to hear a purr from Norm, but various small snorts and grunts when petted suggest he is trying but either can’t or does not know how. His right front leg bends out a bit oddly at the elbow but without causing any noticeable discomfort. Previously he had a small limp on a rear leg but x rays revealed no problem and it seems to have vanished. Apart from Saskatchewan winter ears, at an estimated age of three and a half, Norm bears no signs of his difficult previous life. Unlike most of his male contemporaries, he shows no signs of previous fights. Given also his small stature, he really does not present as an alpha cat. He is very cautious and currently on a course of gabapentin to help with socialization. Norm is adorable, a classic swirl tabby with white trim, currently shaped like a football as a result of the transition to house life and the foster’s desire to reassure him. His irregular pattern of white toes is, well, to die for. We hope for a permanent placement for Norm where he will never need to worry about anything ever again.</image:caption>

<image:title>Reyna - Meet Reyna</image:title>
<image:caption>Meet Reyna—a sweet, affectionate girl who loves curling up beside you on the couch or snuggling in bed. She has a charmingly confident personality and isn’t shy about letting you know what she wants, whether that’s pets, playtime, a cozy spot by the window, or a little space. Reyna especially enjoys looking out the window and keeping an eye on the world outside. When she’s in the mood for affection, she’ll happily follow you around like your shadow, always ready for some extra love. She would thrive in a quiet, smaller household, ideally with adults or older children, as large groups can make her a bit uneasy. Reyna may take a few days to warm up in a new home and might keep her distance at first. But once she feels comfortable and safe, she becomes a loyal companion who will stay close by your side whenever she can. Reyna also has a bit of a spicy side—especially at the vet—but at home she’s a loving, expressive girl who just needs a little patience and understanding to truly shine</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sebastian is still learning that the world can be safe. He came in with other cats and clearly looked out for them. Sebastian has a quiet guardian energy. He is thoughtful, careful with his boundaries, and very respectful of the other cats around him. He loves the companionship of his fellow felines and feels much braver when they are nearby. When Sebastian feels safe enough, his playful side comes out. He enjoys playing with toys and rolling around in catnip. When he feels especially brave he has the sweetest little chirp and will often sing to himself and whoever might be listening. Sebastian is also very handsome. He has luxuriously soft fur, expressive emerald eyes, the shortest little legs, and what looks like a cool little tabby sleeve tattoo on one arm. He is curious about human life, but for now, he is taking things at his own pace and building confidence every day. Petting is not yet allowed, but his fosters strongly feel it will only be a matter of time.</image:caption>

Dove has not been around cats, dogs, or kids, but she is a very brave, adaptable girl, and I'm sure she would fit right into your family. <image:title>Saigey - Meet Saigey</image:title>
<image:caption>Saigey was one of the 47 cats rescued from Wynyard. She is a small cat, probably from lack of food and having kittens while she was a kitten herself. It was discovered that she had severe dental disease, so after she recovered from her spay, she had to have a second surgery to remove all her teeth. Now that she is pain free, she has discovered chin scratches are just as great as head, cheek and back scratches. Also, scratch her back just right and you will get to see her belly. Saigey is very chill and polite. If another cat is rude, she is not intimidated and still has the kitten like quality of quiet persistence to win them over. Even though all we want to do is cuddle her and snuggle her, she's not really into that yet, but she is tolerant of this activity, and when she has had enough does not bite or scratch, but quietly leaves. Lastly, front teeth hold the tongue in. Enjoy the bleps. Keep up with Saigey on Instagram at @cat_mc_catface_yxe</image:caption>
