Amelia is the sweetest cat you'll ever meet. She can be a bit shy at first, but quickly warms up to people and then loves spending time with them. Whether it's curled up on your pillow, draped over your shoulder, or sitting on your lap, as long as she can have her ears scratched and her back rubbed, she's a happy kitty. She's very curious and loves exploring open cupboards and closets, as well as playing in laundry baskets! She also enjoys being up high, whether it's on top of her cat tree or on top of the cupboards. She has a lot of energy but expresses it positively through running around and playing with her toys. Amelia loves people and would be very happy in a home where people are around a lot of the time (stay at home parent, retiree, etc.), but is also fine if she's left alone during the day, as long as she gets her attention when you get home! She prefers to be the queen of her own castle and has a strong dislike for dogs and other cats. She is okay with young children (though a bit shy if they move quickly or make loud noises) and is completely fine with older children. Amelia will make an excellent companion for someone looking for extra joy in their life! Estimated date of birth is November 11, 2013.

Batman really is a good kitty. He is very opinionated and quirky, he loves attention and will come running when you call his name. He is very affectionate and is a total lap cat. He is good with other cats but takes time to adjust to change. He is good with kids and visitors. He is a great boy with lots of personality but he has issues that he will probably have for the rest of his life and needs a family that understands that. Batman is quite a special kitty. He was hit by a car and sustained serious injuries. He suffered a broken pelvis and required his tail be amputated. These injuries have left him with some permanent nerve damage that affects his digestive tract and still causes him pain. He has mild megacolon that requires him to be on an inexpensive medication, lactulose, that is given with meals twice daily. He also needs to be on an easily digestible food that is readily available to him, a few veterinary diets have worked very well for him. He also has some lasting chronic pain which is treated with a pain medication given 3 times a day. Also due to the lasting affects of his injuries, he is sensitive about his hind end and stomach, so unfortunately no bum pats for him but he loves head pats and neck rubs. Bruce has had a few urinary tract infections since being with SCAT but has not been positive for any in the last year, we still check his urine at his annual check up and watch for signs that he could have one. Because of nerve damage, defecating can be painful for him at times so he does like to have a few options for litter boxes, he is also pee pad trained but he still likes to try and wait until his fosters get home to have his pee. Always having fresh water or a water fountain has encouraged him to drink more and to pee more consistently. Bruce really is a very affectionate, loving character that just wants a home of his own. He will shower his family in kitty love and be a great feline companion. We think he would adjust fine to calm dogs. If you think you might be the one to give this handsome boy the attention and love he deserves, contact us for more information. Estimated date of birth is October 11, 2008

Have you ever wished for a cat that would forever remain a cute and playful kitten? If so, Beautiful is your girl! This young cat is approximately 2 years old, but from her petite size, cute meow, and playful nature, you would think she was much younger. Beautiful had a rough start to life and was found wandering the streets in Saskatoon, so she takes a little while to warm up to you, but once she does she loves nothing more than being petted and scratched. She also enjoys her toys (especially her laser pointer), catnip, being brushed and chatting to you. She is very tidy with her food, and is completely litterbox trained. Beautiful is more comfortable with women than with men, but will quickly warm up to whoever has the catnip! Although she loves pets and snuggles, Beautiful doesn’t love being picked up. With some gentle practice and lots of positive reinforcement, she will likely overcome her discomfort. Beautiful likely would do well as the only cat in your home, as she is easily bullied by other cats, due to her small size, but could likely grow to be friends with another mild-mannered cat. This sweet kitty would probably prefer a home with only adults, or older children, as she is still working to overcome her fear of loud noises or quick movement. Even though she can sometimes get spooked, she is always looking to spend time with her people and would love a forever home that has a warm spot waiting for her at the foot of the bed. It seems like Becca will always be shy with people until she gets to know them. She will hide around the corner when people come over. Her foster mom believes she will do well with one or two quiet people. You will have to try her and trust that she will come to you.She will need someone who has the time, the love, and the patience, and she will come around. She is fine with other cats and the dog, but, will cry if the young cats come near, as they have teased her and she doesn't want to have them near anymore. She loves to be petted and brushed and she does need her beautiful long hair brushed regularly. Estimated date of birth of Becca is July 7, 2007.

Berty Bumbleby was a very shy, jumpy cat when first brought to SCAT a few months ago, but since then he has made great progress and is getting very comfortable and brave. He loves his cat tree and he climbs on it most of the day. He loves chasing laser pointers and is a very curious cat. He loves watching everything that is going on around him. He loves lounging on the bed or the couch, and even snuggles under the blankets. He acts shy some times, but he won't hesitate to follow his foster mom onto the couch and will cuddle up against her thigh or lay on her lap and snooze. He is skittish with loud, unexpected sounds and movements, but is getting less scared each and every day. He is very quiet, until he knows it is meal time...then he is a meowing machine and will rub up against ankles. He does like to play in his water dish when he is waiting for his food, so he will dip his paws in and then walk around the kitchen. He doesn't seem to like cat treats or any human food. He is a respectful cat and doesn't ever jump on counters or tables. He is such a beautiful color grey, and he doesn't shed either. All in all, he is still learning how to trust but once he does, he is an amazing pet! Estimated date of birth is January 9, 2018

Big Cindee- who is not so big so we call her “Little Big Cindee”- is a lovely independent teenaged kitten that lures you in with her sweet face and tiny meows. She is sleek and adorable, everyone who visits the Centre comments on how cute she is. She enjoys being around people and she will come and rub against you and give you tiny licks, asking for pets- but you need to watch as she is often a “three pat cat”. Sometimes she engages in longer petting sessions when she is feeling particularly lovely but in general three pat cats are ones that can be over stimulated by lots of petting. When over stimulated Big Cindee will give bites or scratches- she doesn’t intend to hurt you but you can almost see the energy build in her when you pet her and she can’t help herself- so a home that can read her body language and be aware and comfortable with her quirks is a must! She likes to be around people and is fine socializing with other cats, she is confident and either pays other cats little attention or she will engage in play with some but hasn’t taken to cuddling/grooming the others here at the Centre. Big Cindee has not been exposed to dogs but so long as they give her space we think she would be fine. Big Cindee would do best in a home that has very little piled/exposed fabric (blankets, cat beds) and where things are busy. She has a history of inappropriate urination (one spare beds, or in a pile of cats beds) that is being managed with medication and being in a busier environment (the Centre) but she may be tempted if the right spot presents again like she was when we had a pile of cat beds- once those beds were gone we have not had any other issues. Big Cindee is definitely looking for a unique home but we know that the right home is out there- if you think you might be her forever family please apply today- or come meet her at the SCAT Centre Tues-Sat 11-4pm! Big Cindee's estimated date of birth is April 7, 2018.

Brees Bees was a found Dad cat. Of all the family rescued, he had never been seen before and was the most beat up. In fact he is FIV positive so is immune compromised and requires very regular vet check-ups. He recently underwent dental surgery as well as his neuter and came through it all with flying colours. Brees is very discreet and sensibly cautious, given his past, but he is also very laid-back and accepting of the good life. This life includes abundant food, warm assorted perches and no hassles. Litter box is conscientiously used and no special conditions apply. He will hide on first meeting, but after a couple of days recognizes the provider of condition one of the good life (food, lots of it). Such providers, he likes to rub his head against and accept a large number of pets and scritches from. He can be tempted to bat at a wand or dangly toy, but otherwise does not yet get the idea of playing. He is likely about three years old. Maybe from memories of life on the street, he occasionally sings the song of the people. Or it may be especially triggered by smelling a cat food can open upstairs. Just once in a while, you can feel him vibrate with a silent purr. So far, it seems Brees would definitely do well with those who enjoy the quiet life. When a resident cat come down to ogle at him from afar and growl (through his lattice door), Brees is completely unreactive. He has his room and he just doesn't care. For now at least.

Bridget came into foster care as a petrified cat, but slowly came out of her shell and turned out to be a love bug. When she wants attention she will follow and brush against your legs, or hop on your lap and chest to block what you’re doing so you pet her. She will tolerate being picked up, but not for very long. She decides very suddenly when she doesn’t want to be touched anymore and will let you know by swatting and biting, but she is slowly learning to not use her claws as much. No matter how much she’s had to eat she always wants more so she needs someone who will schedule feeding for her as she is already overweight. She’s still scared of loud or unfamiliar noises and hides whenever there’s the sound of someone at the front door; even the cat tree when it first arrived was terrifying. She would likely not do well in a loud home, with children, or other animals. Estimated date of birth is September 6, 2014.

My name is Chrissy. I am elegant, playful, and love to snuggle in beside and be petted. If you will play with me I will be very happy.  I can be quite vocal when asking for treats or pets. I love scratches at the base of my tail and I purr and flop around while getting attention.  I especially love a moving target that I can pounce on. I love to climb the cat tree and watch out the windows. I too have my preferences for when humans play, cuddle, and let me be by myself. I LOVE temptations treats and picking the stones out of the water dish. I get along well with my siblings and can't wait to play with the dog I touch noses with through the gate. Chrissy is in a foster home with her sister Cienna.  They get along well and could be adopted together if you are looking for a pair. Estimated date of birth of Chrissy is August 9, 2015.

Cienna is a fun and friendly cat who needs a forever family with the patience to earn her trust and get her out of her shell. She is very shy at first, taking to hiding under beds and couches, but she still enjoys company while hiding and is happy to have someone scratch her ears while safely tucked away. Once she gets more comfortable, she’s happy to wander around and explore. She’s very curious and likes to investigate everything she sees or smells! She can be chatty while she’s exploring, meowing at anyone who will listen, but she hasn’t ever meowed while her fosters are sleeping, meaning everyone gets a good night’s sleep even while she’s exploring and playing. Cienna is more active in the night, especially from 8pm to 8am, but she’s starting to realize it’s safe to come out during the day too, and has even taken to sleeping on top of beds instead of under them. She’s always happy to have her ears and back scratched, and even likes belly rubs! She is very gentle but skittish, and runs away from loud noises, sudden movements, and strangers, though she’s getting more confident with every day! Cienna would do well in a quieter house with no small children. She could probably get used to having other pets around (especially other cats, dogs may be very scary to her) if you were willing and able to introduce her slowly and let her learn she’s safe around them. Cienna is in a foster home with her sister Chrissy.  They get along well and could be adopted together if you are looking for a pair. Estimated date of birth of Cienna is August 9, 2015.

Dina was abandoned with her two kittens after her owners moved away and left them in the yard. She had a collar embedded in her skin when she came to SCAT and luckily we had a foster home come available and were able to bring them into our program. Dina clearly had a rough go and can take a while to warm up to people, and can be nervous as she isn't sure if the person is going to respect her boundaries or hurt her. Right now Dina will sit with people she trusts and enjoy pets on her head but she isn't comfortable with people touching around her body or tummy. We aren’t sure what happened in her past but she seems to be more distrustful of men than women so she may be slower to warm up to men than women but should she be given time to build trust she should fit into a quiet home with men or women. Her favourite activity is to sit by the window on "neighbourhood watch" and check out who is out and about in the neighbourhood that day! We know Dina needs a special home but we also know that home is out there-if your home is quiet and you are finding you have space in your home and heart for a quirky girl who was dealt a rough hand in life apply to meet Dina today!

Evelyn was taken into SCATs program in February of 2017 as a heavily pregnant stray- all her babies have been adopted and we want to find a special home for her as well!  In the months we have known her we have found that she is tiny but fierce- sometimes she becomes quite anxious or overstimulated (I am sure many people can relate!) and on occasion this leads to her biting quite hard when people don’t read her signs, which can be subtle but  her foster can talk to you about them. She needs to be in a home where all the members can read cat body language to notice when she is getting spicy and let her have time to decompress, so a home with kids is not recommended. Aside from the occasional periods of overstimulation she is a lovely chatty lady who loves pets and people, and can have bouts of playfulness. She is currently living with other cats but picks on the more submissive one when she gets the jump on her so if she was to go into a home with other pets they would need to know how to stand up for themselves or enjoy the occasional chase. Evelyn is listed as special needs as she is on an anxiety medication to help her relax and be less spicy and it helps her quite a bit. They are relatively inexpensive and should not be a deterrent to  adopting for the majority of adopters! Estimated date of birth of Evelyn is January 25, 2015.

Fareway Willy is looking for a very special, loving home as he does have some special needs. Fareway Willie has Feline Leukemia (FeLV) which is not cancer but a lifelong virus that supresses the immune system and can be spread between cats through casual contact (grooming, sharing water/food dishes/litter boxes). As it can result in a shorter lifespan and medical issues later in life we do not adopt out FeLV cats into homes with other cats- but it does not affect other species, and cats with FeLV can cohabit with dogs, birds, lizards, children etc.  FeLV cats need patient owners with big hearts who are willing to monitor their health and understand that while their time together may not be as long it will still be filled with love and very rewarding. He loves to play the day away either by himself with a variety of toys or with his feline foster siblings he has convinced to be his friend. He also loves people, and will adorably head bump you repeatedly as a greeting when you wake up. Fender likes to make himself at home at the foot of your bed at night so he knows when you are a awake so he can give you love bumps first thing! As Fender is unfamiliar with children and can become excitable and "mouth" or "love bite" (places mouth but doesn’t bite down) so a home with older children that can understand this behaviour or no children would be preferred. In the past Fender has struggled with inappropriate urination, but in his new foster they have been able to control his inappropriate urination with environmental stimulation and specialized diet. He is on the c/d stress diet and eats it happily- he would need to remain on that diet for the duration of his life. Additionally he would do best in a neighborhood where there are no roaming cats as strange cats can stress him out and stress can trigger inappropriate urination which we want to avoid for sure. His fosters love him- he is super sweet and deserves a special home! Estimated date of birth of Fender is February 2, 2016.

First seen on Friday, she was rescued on a December Sunday when the temperature was - you guessed it, Saskatoon, - -30 something degrees. Alas, she was huddled into a frozen, icy mass. Her ears have frozen and fallen off and the tip of her tail had to be amputated. She has obviously had a very traumatic past and is timid. Friday now has her own warm room with lots of toys and foster Auntie is working patiently with her and longing for the day, which is not yet, when she can just scoop Friday up for big hugs and kisses. Friday loves playing with toys and thinks that the soft toys need to be washed - these are often found floating and soaking in the water dish. Friday has now met the other foster kitties in the home and, although she seems to want to be friends with everyone, the truth is that she prefers the boys. A very petite adult cat, surprisingly, Friday is turning into a tomboy who especially loves to corner and wrestle with a retired tomcat three times her size. Friday and her human Auntie have "meowy" conversations - Friday likes to converse. However, she is still fearful of being picked up. For now she only lets Auntie pet her and scratch under her chin while she is sitting securely in the corner of her window sill. (Tear stains mark her face and these will wash off. Unfortunately, when we had the camera she was not in the mood for a facewash.) Estimated date of birth of Friday is July 1, 2008.

Gemini is a very handsome boy, with one green eye and one blue eye people always comment how unique he is! This may be the reason he changed hands through kijiji multiple times before finding himself in SCATs care after one of our clinics refused to euthanize him for fighting with a cat 24 hours after being introduced to the resident cat of the family that picked him up last (this would actually be quite common with adult, male, unneutered cats we always recommend 2-4 weeks minimum for integration of cats!). Since coming into our care we realized that Gemini is a hunter through and through, he loves to carry around toys and chase them, and in another life he would have been an excellent mouser! However as Gemini errs on the side of predator it can cause issues when he is with a submissive cat, or one that doesn’t enjoy his style of play. Gemini likes to chase and wrestle, the resident cat in his first foster home didn’t appreciate this and it would escalate into a fight. Later they would sleep butt to butt but then inevitably a fight would ensue when Gemini tried to engage her in play she didn’t like and so Gemini came to the SCAT Centre. In our free roaming Centre we found he did amazing with Ralphy (adopted), an could be out without issue with our sassy girl Big Cindee (available), our timid boy Okra (available) didn’t like him and would try and swat at him- but Gem didn’t really react to him, but our senior girl Me-so-Sydney (adopted) was the perfect “prey” and too much fun to taunt so they would get into fights. So we list him as good with other cats depending on the cat- other confident cats that enjoy a rough style of play he would likely do well with but we would caution him going into a home with submissive cats. We have not had an opportunity to test Gemini with dogs. Other than that Gemini enjoys pets and spending time with people but is not overly needy with physical affection. He is still somewhat nervous when people move suddenly or try to pick him up but if you move slowly and speak softly he is easy to handle- so young children may not be the best fit for him. When he is bored he will tell you about it- and he’s got a good meow on him, he would do best in a home that would engage in play with him daily or have a cat who will play with him daily. Because Gemini is very handsome we hope any inquiring owners will consider carefully whether their home is the right fit for Gemini- we want his next home to hopefully be his last and a true forever home!

Geordi didn’t have much human contact early on so it takes him longer to trust humans and his surroundings. If there is a place to hide from people he doesn't know, he will find it and you won't find him until they're gone. He’s a very sweet boy who loves affection on his terms. When his foster guardian settles in front on the couch or in bed he follows shortly, where he demands bellyrubs and chin scratches. If you are late at all with his breakfast or supper he is very vocal and lets you know, otherwise he is quiet and fairly timid, but still coming out of his shell. His favourite toys are those that can be chased, whether it’s feathers, string, or a laser pointer. He also loves to chew cardboard that's been set up near the cat trees, but otherwise leaves boxes alone. He will tolerate being picked up for a time but “armadillos” as it’s not comfortable for him. He has never shown any aggression while he has been in his current foster home, but trimming his nails is a feat as he is a master at squirming away. Other cats are likely not an issue for him as he tries to affectionately bump against the other moody foster cat in the home, much to her displeasure. Estimated date of birth is July 27, 2016

This is Granderson....yes he is named after the Blue Jays outfielder. His brother, Garcia, is named after the pitcher. Granderson is an excellent ball player.....he loves balls....fuzzy ones....hard ones.....any kind of ball. He’s known to carry a special one around in his mouth so that his other 4 black siblings can’t steal it. He’s the biggest and heaviest one of the bunch.......and very mature and mischievous!!!! I think he’ll grow up to be a large sleek handsome boy.  In many countries including Asia and Europe, black cats possess strong powers of good. I believe this to be true. Since I began the busy life of fostering these 5 little black bundles my life has been blessed......with peace and joy.  These little kitties came into my life when I needed these “little teachers” to show me joy, commitment, perseverance, forgiveness and most of all laughter.  Estimated date of birth is May,31,2018.

Hi, my name is Hawley! Or at least that's what the hoomuns here call me. Secretly though, my name is Anastasia. I'm the long lost daughter of the last Russian Czar. I like to keep hidden when people come so that they don't know I am here. But for my resident hoomun, I have much affection for because she keeps my secret well...and she knows the best spots for scrunching. Ahhh, yes. I do love to run around and play on my own, most of the time at night so that people don't see my silly side. After all, a princess has an image to maintain. I love watching the world through the front window especially the birds at the feeder and any cats roaming by. I need to make sure they don't invade my territory. In the summer, I love spending time out in the front screened in porch. I often even sleep out there. In the winter I have a wonderful heated bed placed by the front window. It's perfect for my neighbourhood watch. Sometimes I spend time sitting by the resident hoomun and sometimes she brings out the special brush which I really really like. I like treats too, but, not always. I do have to watch my girlish figure after all. Dasvidania ESTIMATED DATE OF BIRTH: 26 May 2007

Meet the incorrigible Hiccup. He is a quirky, lovable big fellow...his antics could provide fodder for many videos. He is very active and full of fun but is as well a terrible klutz. Very chatty, he can continue conversations endlessly and follows his foster everywhere taking advantage of every opportunity to snuggle. He gets along well with other cats and the resident dog. The dog however is deeply suspicious of Hiccup and his unusual behavior. Hiccup is also a special needs cat. He has a chronic inflammatory bowel disease which requires a very strict veterinary diet. He is no longer needing any medications (except for glucosamine spinkled on his food) but will need a special home to monitor and care for him. Honeydew is a cute cat with a short tail and legs.  She is completely black but with a touch of frost on one of her ears.  She likes attention and loves ear and head scratches but is not a lap cat (yet!).  She is not timid of new people at all but is still getting used to being a house cat.  She is mostly a ground dweller and picks a few spots she sticks to before she ventures out to explore the rest of her house. Honeydew likes to chat.  She gives you her full meow when she would really like to remind you that she needs something, but mostly has a cute quiet chirp that she uses when she makes eye contact, or a low murmuring trill when she is talking to herself on her house patrols.  She is very playful and loves toys she can grab and kick, little catnip toys she can chew, and wand toys that you move around for her. She does tend to grab at hands and play bite when she is playing and stimulated.  She has never hurt anyone but may not be best with very small children until she learns that hands are not toys. Honeydew is very easy going in new situations and doesn't take long at all to get used to new people and cat friends.  Her foster home does not have a dog, but on a recent adventure at Petsmart she didn't seem to be bothered by dogs.  She also learned to walk on a harness immediately and walked around Petsmart with no fear.  We think she would love to be taken outside for walks once the weather is a little nicer. If you are looking for a cat that is cute and fun and sweet, but not "in your face" with affection, Honeydew may be the one for you. Estimated date of birth is January 17, 2017

Lana and Li'l Kim have made a lot of progress and in a regular home environment may make the final steps to perfect companions.  Both like to cuddle on laps but will startle easily and not comfortable with being picked up yet.  They are gentle ones who have never bit or scratched.  Also have very good litter box manners. Please note that Li'l Kim and Lana were exposed to the Feline Leukemia virus at a young age. Advanced testing shows that they are not able to infect any other cats and as such are able to cohabit with other cats- but there is a small possibility that they may develop diseases related to the disease later in life. Hi, I'm Lizzie. During the day I like preserving my energy by looking out the window and saying hi to my bird friends. I know it's time to play when my foster parents come home. I usually run to the door to greet them, hoping I can get a quick pet. After that, I make sure to remind them that I am hungry with a loud meow. I love my food, especially this fun ball I have that makes me eat a little slower. After dinner, we like to snuggle up on the couch with my favourite blanket. I am usually very gentle, but consent is the name of the game with me. If you like to pet me, please ask. If you don't, I will let you know that I don't like it or I'll go hide. Yet really anytime someone gets on the couch I make sure to be right there with them. My motto is that one should never be alone on a comfy couch, especially if you are eating popcorn! I am not totally sure when I was born, though people tell me I am about 8 years old. When I was living on the street, I had babies, sadly I never got to see them again. Luckily someone found me and brought me to the foster centre. There I wasn't thrilled because the other cats saw me as an easy mark. That is why I have a hard time trusting other cats. When I got to my foster parents, it took me a couple weeks to fully trust them. Since then we have become best friends. My foster parents sometimes look after dogs too. As long as they don't try to lick me or yell in my face, we hang out and lounge around together. When people come over that I don't know I still hide until I have gotten to know them a bit better. If you give me the time we can be best friends too. Even though I love my foster parents very much, I am looking for a forever home to grow old in. If you are interested in me, … Estimated date of birth of Lizzie is January 8, 2011.

Lolita is currently healthy and happy but is FeLV+. She is a big lap cuddler and will sit in a lap for a long time. Her tail is thick and fluffy but she does not like to have it brushed, nor her back end, and she is sensitive about having her paws touched. Otherwise she is gentle, purrs quietly and gazes up while sitting in a lap. Lolita is a spunky and spirited kitty who would love to explore and run. Lolita loves her iPad games and takes it over from her foster mom all the time, she even got to play the game on the big TV once and found that to be quite fun! She still runs and hides when there's new people/strange sounds but is very loving with people she is comfortable with! She tests positive for feline leukemia (FeLV) so must go to a home with no other cats but would love some people and a dog could be tried. Estimated date of birth of Lolita is October 30, 2014. This is what Munchkin's foster had to say about him: "Munchkin was in boarding when I became a foster. My heart broke when I had learned he had been there for a few months and that his previous adopters returned him. Upon meeting Munchkin I learned he is a large and heavy tabby boy with a heart as big as his stomach. Munchkin took a few days to adjust to being back in a home environment and also being around two other kittens who were very curious about him and full of energy. Munchkin warmed up to his foster brothers, Atticus and Theodore right away. Munchkin loves to play with his foster brothers and often partakes in the battle for who gets to sit on the top perch of the cat tree. Munchkin shows his love in his own way, he is not overly cuddly but he loves head and chin scratchies. He always gives good night kisses and stays at your feet while you sleep. Munchkin has been trained to lay on his blanket and he tends to do this very well as he enjoys his soft blanket. He rarely climbs onto your lap and prefers just to be near you, within petting reach of course. Munchkin is a very calm and relaxed cat but he can be very vocal, especially in the morning when he wants to be fed, he knows his feeding routine and will let you know if you’re taking too long to fill his dish! Munchkin also enjoys belly rubs and catnip bubbles. While he is thriving in his home environment with his foster brothers, sometimes they drive him a bit crazy with their never ending energy! Munchkin is a great companion and since he gets along with other cats (with some time), he would do well in either a single or multi-cat home. He seems to be good around children (however he hasn’t been around any children under the age of 8). Munchkin’s easy going personality and calm demeanour makes him a great addition to any household, however I think he would do very well in a quiet environment as the only cat, and perhaps with someone older who is looking for a companion. Munchkin is the biggest sweetheart and while he loves his foster mom and brothers, he would love to find his forever home! He is great at keeping your feet warm at the end of your bed on those cold winter nights. He’s basically a small furnace. Estimated date of birth is February 9, 2012.

Here is what Natasha's foster mom has to say about her: Natasha loves humans. She spends her time in her own room in her basement and I spend quality time with her. She loves to lie with me on a lounge I have down there and she will stay so for as long as I can stay. Natasha loves her food so needs monitoring with food. She likes toys, especially laser toys and a ring with ball and cardboard scratcher inside. She really loves catnip and swoons with it. Natasha does not like to be brushed/combed nor to have her claws trimmed. I think this comes from some early trauma. She likes petting on her head, under her chin, around her ears and cheeks and around her neck, but not so much further on her body. Natasha is a quiet kitty and really does not demand much. Since Natasha has lived in her own room and spends a lot of time on her own, I think she would do nicely with someone who works long hours and wants a loving kitty when they come home. She would really like a whole house to run about in and explore. Natasha is a loving kitty but she fears other cats immensely. She hisses, growls and tries to hide or cringes in a corner. Of course this right away sets off other cats and no good happens. When Natasha gets alarmed in this way or any other, she does become defensive so anyone with her needs to know this. Nika was born outdoors along with her siblings.  Humans are still relatively new to her and she is still initially fearful of people. Right now she is unable to be handled or held without a towel, but she will take food from her fosters’ hands if it is the right treat. She is getting more comfortable staying out when food is being brought to her, and eating when her foster parents are still in the room. She loves playing with other cats, so would do well in a home with another kitten or a young playful cat. She will require a family that has the time and patience to work on her trust, and if children are in the home they should be older, cat savvy, patient, and knowledgeable about respecting her boundaries while she becomes comfortable in her new home. Can you imagine all the fun we can have together? It would be so awesome! Quintin is a very lucky boy! He was a stray and after what appeared to be an infection in his leg started causing him some trouble, a concerned citizen took him to the vet to get checked. They realized he would need more care than the individual was able to provide and that the leg likely needed to be amputated so reached out to SCAT and we were able to get him into our program. His leg was cleanly amputated and sent away for testing which is when we discovered his injury was caused by cancer. Luckily it doesn’t spread easily (very low risk, with a 0-25% chance of recurring, which lowers with each checkup). While Quintin will need a couple more x-rays in the next couple month to determine if the cancer has spread (if adopted SCAT will cover the cost of these X-rays), he has an otherwise clean bill of health that we are anticipating will stay clean. His wound has healed so well and he jumps on and off a VERY high bed without any issues. He runs the stairs faster than the resident cats and when he walks you can hardly notice any difference between his gait and that of the other cats. You would never think Quintin was a stray when you see him now. He is active and confident and loves to play. He enjoys cuddles for as long as you keep petting. He gets along well with his fosters' resident cats, although they’re not quite ready to play with him. The resident dog however would love to play. Quintin is very calm around the dog as long as she stays about a foot away. He doesn’t even get up to run away unless she tries to get right up close and then he’ll encourage her to keep her distance but still not automatically run away. The two of them can easily relax on the same bed if a foster human is there. Quintin is such a lovely cat and he is doing so well, as if nothing ever happened to him. He would fit well into most homes. Estimated date of birth is February 14, 2018.

She is shy with strangers, but your patience with her is rewarded. She doesn't like being approached but is very cuddly when she gets to make the first move. Quiz loves nothing more than curling up on a human's lap while they watch TV or read. If a human lap isn't available, she also enjoys a cushion. She likes pets around the head and front part of her body but does not care to be petted near her bottom. She does not like living with other cats or dogs; if they approach her she will hiss and growl, and also shows her displeasure in other ways. Quiz would be happiest in a single pet home with adults, but would also be okay with older children who understood not to bother her. She is a wonderful companion. Estimated date of birth is August 5, 2005.

Rapunzel is a 3 year old beauty who came to SCAT thanks to some good Samaritans who were making sure she was fed every day and noticed that she was heavily pregnant. Though she was terrified of "life on the inside" at first, she didn't get much time to think about it once her 5 babies arrived. Slowly she has warmed up to her new life & is learning to trust humans. Now that her babies are all in their forever homes, she has continued to progress in her socialization, allowing head to tail pets and purring up a storm, and she is ready to find her people. She is still timid, especially around new people and situations, so would likely be best suited to a quiet home. It does take a bit of patience to earn her trust, but once you do, she is the sweetest girl. She is food motivated, so treats are a great tool in helping her trust and socialize, but on the same note, she will need someone who will keep an eye on her weight. She is doing well with the other cats in the foster home. Estimated date of birth is October 16, 2015.

Razzle is a shy, quiet cat who would do well in a quiet home with one or two people. She is a huge cat and needs to be where her food could be monitored more carefully. Despite her size, she can do back flips when she is playing with a toy. She loves to be petted and brushed. Her foster mom believes she would be a fine lap cat. She is fine with the other cats and dog. Sometimes she will tell you with her soft mew, that a treat would be very welcome. She loves meal time and will push the other cats away so she can be first.in a home that is very patient with her. Estimated date of birth of Razzle is April 5, 2008.

Robi shows his affection by sitting beside you in your chair. When he is hungry, Robi rubs against your legs most affectionately. He does meow but sometimes they come out as squeaks. He has his quiet moments and then, there are his wild times when he runs about the house in exuberant rushes. He is very good using the litter box and loves the scratch stands using them faithfully. He also loves to be brushed and will roll over several times to be sure he is brushed all over. Robichaud needs a special diet. He prefers to drink from the faucet or a cat water fountain. He is a very sweet boy and will often tell you so. Estimated date of birth of Robichaud is June 14, 2011.

Hello human, the name’s Roo! I’m no kangaroo but I’ll keep things hoppin’ at your place. Best of all, you won’t have to go to the land down under to meet me! Some say I have a face you can’t forget. Sure, I’m missing an ear - well, both ears to be precise - but I hear just fine, especially when it comes to that oh-so-delectable sound of a tin can opening. Most cats have selective hearing, anyway. 😉 I’m shy at first but that’s just part of my house panther persona. I like to keep people guessing. One minute you’ll see me in the shadows; the next I’ll be draped over your lap demanding attention (and food, of course). Unlike my wild cousins, I’m really just a pussycat. As you can see, I’m not a fan of the weather around here. Winter took a few pieces out of me but I think you’ll wholeheartedly agree I’m no worse for wear if you meet me. Doesn’t the colour black go with everything? I’ll be your perfect match - and I’m always in style. You don’t want just any cat. You want a memorable cat - and I’d say I more than meet that requirement. If you’ve got a nose for the peculiar, come by and see me. Even if you don’t, if you have just a nose, please come by anyway because I really could use a new one! -xoxo Estimated date of birth is February 7, 2017

Roxy is approximately 2 years old and she is very friendly with people, kids, and dogs. She’s young enough that she still likes to chase toys on strings and to bunny kick her toys and tennis ball.  But she’s also content enough to sleep for hours, especially in front of the fireplace.  Though she isn’t a lap cat she likes to be petted for short periods of time (she’ll let you know when she’s had enough) and to stay in the same room as her people.  If your hands are too close to her face or paws when she’s excited during playtime she sometimes swats, but once you learn to read her cues you won’t get scratched any more. Roxy is a champion litter box user too. Roxy is aggressive toward the other cat in her foster home and we think she’d be best in a single cat household. Estimated date of birth is August 8, 2016.

Tater and his brother Tot were dumped on an acreage in December and sadly the owner of the property was allergic. They were obviously confused pet cats that someone had left to fend for themselves as friendly but "intact" older kittens. These brothers are great friends and would love to be adopted together, though they can be separated if needed to find the right home. These boys are still a little shy but are super loving. They are living with a small dog at the moment and are doing well with their canine companion. Tater and Tot both provide frequent cuddles on their terms. Couch cuddles are a favorite and they both love to pile on top of you together. They are still learning that being picked up is a good thing. But they love their food and are very motivated for dinner and treats. Tater is a little more bold than his brother. He's super talkative and is a purr monster. Affectionate and full of beans, they are bonded with each other and get along well with other cats and dogs. Both love water and they have learned to turn on the bathroom taps to play in the water droplets, and also like to hang around the kitchen counter to act as sous chefs, habits their foster is trying to break them of. Hi my name is Umbrella! I am looking for a forever home with my beloved sister Unicorn. Together we are a very elegant looking set of Parlor Panthers. We love to chase each other and keep each other out of trouble. We are friendly and obedient, sweet and entertaining. While foster Mom is at work, we are angels spending the day with the dog. We leave Mom’s plants alone, and never jump on the counter (but we love to jump on the dresser, bed and dog kennel where we are allowed!). We both are fascinated by all the crazy stuff we see on TV and computer screens, and will figure them out one day! We both love to help Mom make the bed in the morning. We also both love to get under the covers at night, or lay on Mom’s chest. We love our ear scratches and pets, but if we get too insistent, Mom has only to blow softly in our face once, and we go lie down a little distance away. We both have the sweetest voices, and trill back at Mom when she talks to us. We don’t like being alone, and call for help when we find ourselves separated from each other, or from Mom and our foster dog brother. I am the more laid back of the set, but when a stranger comes to door I run to meet them and say hey. The dog and I chill together often, but my favorite thing is to fetch soft sparkle balls over and over again. Unicorn's date of birth is February 16, 2018.

I have a little bit stronger personality than my brother, and like to take a moment to hold back and study strangers when they come to the house. At four months old I had to push the dog’s buttons just a little bit, to find my place. After that first assessment was over though, I get along wonderfully with everyone and love them very hard. When I lay on Mom’s chest I turn my head and put one ear down to hear her heart. Unicorn's date of birth is February 16, 2018.

Timid to start but give her a minute and she’ll be winding around your legs and giving head bumps like you were old friends. She enjoys pets and attention, and if you throw some catnip into the mix she would be extremely happy! Currently she is eating senior consult even though she is a young cat as she had been exposed to lilies when young and so needs the diet for her kidneys. She has lived with other cats in the past and cohabits well. She had not been exposed to dogs but we think a calmer dog would be fine with a slow introduction. Cat friendly older kids (6+) would probably be better since she is initially timid and younger children may move to unexpectedly. She would fit into many homes! Vasha is a timid kitten with a very sweet face. After being taken in on an acreage with an older cat she has come a long way to being a house cat. She's very observant and loves to be in whichever room you are. She's still not thrilled about being picked up or carried anywhere but will sit beside you on the couch and enjoy pets. She is good with other cats and could care less that dogs exist. She allows the toddler at her foster home to pet her but would be best with calmer or older children. It's very likely that in the right home she will come around more and be a cuddly cat in her own time. Estimated date of birth is June 10, 2017.

Veli and Vulcun are two kittens that were trapped on the streets as older kittens- because they were socialized with humans later in life and spent their first few months surviving by running and hiding from us scary “predators” they need to make absolutely sure that you are predator to be trusted. To make sure you can be trusted they will hide and watch you from a safe place- for weeks just in case you are trying to trick them - so any adopter would need to know that it would take a while to settle into a new home but if you’re patient they are such a sweet little duo! Their current foster home notes that they love to chase things – and they aren’t picky, Christmas wrapping ribbon on a string, twist ties on the hard wood floor, and kibbles. Sometimes I think they chase the kibbles I throw just because it's fun and not because they're hungry - the longer the run the more fun it seems. Veli is the more demanding of the two and once he trusts you he thinks your first priority upon waking up should be showering him with the love he deserves – and if you are ignoring him he has the cutest little squeaky meow to let you know that he is in fact available for pets! Vulcun very much wants pets but when you first reach for him he gets nervous and may walk away but as soon as you start petting him he melts into it and will flop down – he is a big fan of a two handed shoulder rub. He is a gorgeous medium haired boy who is reminiscent of a lion (except when the dry winter air gives him a lot of static!) These boys love each other and while Veli can be a bit of a bossy older brother they often play and groom with one another- they would very much like to find their forever home together but would be OK on their own too.

After living on the street and being fed for over a year by a friendly citizen it became evident that X.C. was injured. That’s when he was trapped and became a SCAT cat. Now X.C is healthy and ready for adoption. X.C. likes to tell you all about his day when you’ve been gone for a bit. For a cat that’s lived on the streets, he’s extremely well behaved: he doesn’t climb onto tables or counters, he scratches only his scratching post, he sleeps during the night, and he uses his litter box appropriately. X.C. is medium haired with a wisp of bright white under his chin and he loves being brushed with a slicker brush. He tolerates having his nails trimmed and being carried, and he’ll jump on your lap for pets and scritches. His favourite pastimes are playing with wand toys, empty toilet paper rolls, his catnip mouse, and anything that looks like a long shoelace. He is not fond of balls. Though X.C hasn’t met other dogs or cats in his foster home we believe that he’d do well with both. He has met children over the age of 4 and adult males and females. He does well one-on-one but becomes afraid and hides when he’s in the presence of several strangers. With time and more exposure this behaviour will likely improve. X.C. is an elegant and handsome fella and he knows it! He proudly walks about with his head and tail held high......must have royalty in his blood line! Lucky is the person/family who adopts this little fella. X.C. will not disappoint!

If you are looking for a low maintenance cat to enjoy your company for a couple years, we have the cat for you! Yarn is a spayed female grey and white tabby cat found on the streets of Saskatoon. She is house trained and declawed so she does not make a mess other than when she sheds, but she loves to be brushed. She sprawls out flat like a pancake when being petted and she loves it! Though she is not a lap cat she sits close in order to collect pets. She likes to be where her people are, and is fine with kids. Yarn does not like dogs, but we are unaware of how she feels about other cats. Yarn is a small cat with a lot of attitude. She is very vocal and has a little bit of an "old lady" meow, making sure to let you know if she hasn't been fed yet or if she hasn't seen you in a long time! She is active, loves lasers and balls or other things to chase. She recently had dental surgery to remove decaying teeth so she has only 1 canine left, which sticks out of her mouth a little bit. She does not let that stop her from eating though. She has no medical problems or medications and is ready to go to a new home with lots of love for the rest of her years. Yarn's estimated date of birth is September 12, 2005.
